CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Despite of using proven high-quality materials, they have limitations when in touch with different chemicals and some of the more aggressive treatments. They may not resist and get damaged. Fabric care sustains the textiles and keeps them soft and flexible. It maintains high performance, expands the lifetime of the product and keeps it beautiful for a longer period of time. Please, follow the indicated care instructions responsibly, so we can recognize and obey the warranty conditions.
Any defects or damages caused by improper washing and not according to our instructions for washing, ironing, and drying will not be accepted.
If you want to treat your garment or shoes with a process which is not described in the care instructions but you are not sure of its effect, please skip this process.
CLOTHING CARE
PRODUCTS WITH MEMBRANES
HILLMAN’s garments covered by waterproof, breathable ATMOTEC® membrane must be washed at 30°C on a gentle spin. Close all zippers and straps before washing and avoid detergents in the form of powder, fabric softeners, stain removers, and bleach. All of these will significantly decrease the performance of the membrane.
All Hillman clothes with ATMOTEC® membranes must hang-dry.
COTTON
Cotton is durable and easy to maintain. To retain the color of your cotton shirt, turn it inside out or place it in a pillowcase before washing. Make sure to button it all up to help to retain the shirt’s shape.
Ironing your shirt while it is still damp will give you the best results. If the shirt is dry, use water spray or steam iron.
Simply, follow the instructions indicated on the care label.
Turn fleece inside out before washing to prolong its lifespan. Wash at 30-40°C at a gentle spin. Hang-dry it for best results and avoid tumble-drying. If you don’t have an alternative, use the lowest possible heat.
Fleece should never be ironed, steamed, pressed or dry-cleaned, as this may cause melting. Avoid all use of bleach or fabric softener.
Simply, follow the instructions indicated on the care label.
LEATHER
The leather is a natural material. It is strong, soft and comfortable. Regular care guarantees a long lifespan and continuous performance.
If your leather clothes become wet, hang-dry it at a room temperature (use a damp cloth to wipe it before drying if the leather has become dirty).
Simply, follow the instructions indicated on the care label.
MERINO WOOL
Wool is a natural material, rich in all sorts of unique qualities. You can retain the color and shape of our wool products by following a few simple steps.
Wash it in cold water or use the washing machine at a wool cycle. Never apply detergents that contain enzymes. Instead of washing, airing wool garments is a good alternative.
Simply, follow the instructions indicated on the care label.
FOOTWEAR
Outside Care
Remove laces
Remove dirt from your footwear under warm running water using a brush
Air-dry it in an upright position at average room temperature. Alternatively, use a shoe dryer. (Never dry footwear near a source of direct heat, e.g. sunlight, radiators or stoves)
Ideally, apply care treatment products when your leather footwear is almost dry. At this moment the pores are open, and the care product absorbs deeper into the leather
Inside Care
Remove dirt and stones from the inside and let the footwear dry in open air
To avoid unpleasant odor, clean the inside of your footwear. This does not damage its lining.
The ATMOTEC® lining can be cleaned using a soft sponge and warm water. Avoid using hot water or it could damage the look of the leather.
Footwear without ATMOTEC® dries faster when stuffed with paper. Do not use paper to dry footwear that features ATMOTEC® membrane.
Remove the footbed, clean it if necessary and let it air-dry. Make sure to re-insert it back correctly.
STORAGE
Store your footwear in average room temperature with dry air and air circulation.
Do not store
On heated floors
Near open fire
On direct sunlight
On a radiator or similar heating devices
ADVICE FOR OPTIMUM COMFORT
Start your day with dry footwear
Wet and loose trouser legs can carry water to the surface of your footwear
Water can penetrate your leather footwear when standing in it for too long
WHAT NOT TO DO
-
Do not wash your footwear in a washing machine
-
Do not dry your footwear while it is lying down or under pressure. Always wipe it in an upright position
-
Do not let your footwear dry in areas with no air circulation – e.g. inside plastic bags or humid places.
-
Direct sunlight should be avoided as it “burns” the leather, causing it to it dry out and crack.
-
Do not dry your Hillman footwear in hot places – e.g. near open fire, radiator, heating oven or on a heated floor.
-
Do not use soap as it damages the protective layer.
-
Avoid contact with fuels/oils, waste liquids, manure and salt water. If your footwear has been in contact with any of these substances, wash and rinse with fresh water.
